Features of Membership

Included in all levels:

Listening Club: A monthly deep dive into a piece of music including analysis and the historical context of the composer and piece. All genres are fair game! We will meet on Zoom, listen to the piece and discuss it. The Zoom meeting will be recorded so you can rewatch later if desired.

In-App purchases: These are all optional. Items available for sale include PDFs of music not normally included in the app, unit exam assessments, merch like tote bags, mugs and T-shirts with The Music Hub logo. Certain levels of membership receive a discount on in-app purchases.

Guest Lectures: Periodically, guests will be invited to speak or share their music. This will be a virtual event held on Zoom. Tickets to these events will be sold. Certain levels of membership receive discounted or free tickets.

Masterclasses: Periodically, guest teachers will be brought in to do masterclasses. In masterclasses, students play for a guest teacher who gives tips on playing the piece or instrument. It’s like getting a lesson, but it happens in front of an audience so the people listening can also learn (though the person playing gets the most benefit.) All members can watch the Masterclasses, but only levels 4 & 5 will be able to participate.

Included in Levels 2 and above:

Pre-recorded lessons: All theory concepts in the courses will be taught thoroughly on video. Additionally, all pieces in the courses will be demonstrated with both side and overhead cameras so you can visualize hand placement and fingerings, etc.

Theory worksheets: PDFs of theory worksheets will be provided that you can print out and use to practice theory concepts.

PDFs of music: PDFs of all original music and arrangements shared in the app will be able to be read on your device or printed out.

Ear-training MP3s: As a companion to learning theory, ear-training concepts will also be covered. MP3s of exercises are provided to help you do the worksheets.

Play-along PM3s: All songs in the app will be recorded as MP3s so you can play along or just listen to get a sense of timing, tempo and other musical aspects.

Composition activities: Instructions for various small projects are included to help you get your creative juices flowing!

Included in Levels 3 and above:

Office Hours: For each “cohort” in the app, 1-1/2 hours of Office Hours will be provided where you can come and ask questions, get demonstrations, and chat with other cohort members.

Community Forum: In the app, there is a community forum where you can ask questions, participate in challenges, get and give encouragement, and share wins!

Facebook Group: The Facebook group is similar to the community forum, just on Facebook.

Challenges: every so often, different challenges will be held. For example, practice challenges. We will have prizes!

Special Events: these include things like virtual Christmas parties and recitals. But other ideas may pop up!

Included in Levels 4 & 5

Private Lessons: Private lessons are 50 minutes and can take place in-person or online.

Monthly workshops: these monthly workshops will include games, composition projects, and casual performances where students can share their “works in progress” and get feedback from other students.
